Tools & Techniques

Why use diagnostic tools?

Diagnostic tools are a useful mechanism to help understand some of the dynamics are that are playing out in the organisation. Like all tools or questionnaires, they are subject to bias so that their successful use depends on how they are positioned, the application of the results, and the experience of the practitioner. It is important that they are not seen as an answer in themselves, but rather as a means to tap into the key issues.

Tools to be useful for a number of reasons:
they are relatively quick and straightforward to complete so tend not to be too onerous for people to fill in they are based on robust research and are valid and reliable measures
results are fed back to the people involved as a hypothesis to explain subjects which may be difficult for the organisation surface
